Has someone ever made a promise to you that went unfulfilled? In my childhood, I remember my parents promising my brother and me that we’d go to Disneyland one summer, but for one reason or another that Disneyland trip never happened, and I was as upset as any other 10-year-old child would be.
Now, as a parent, I’ve experienced being on the other side of those kinds of promises, when we’ve told our kids we’d go to the movies, or the water park, or a favorite fast food drive-through, but for one reason or another being unable to fulfill those promises.
Thankfully, God is different. When he says he’s going to do something, he does it; when he promises something, he fulfills it. Psalm 33:4 reminds us that God "is faithful in all he does." And Psalm 145:13 assures us: "The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises." This week, give thanks to God for his faithful commitment to you. You might not have the fullness of what has been promised to you in Christ just yet, but you have very good reason to believe you soon will have it (Hebrews 10:23).
