Living with a Heavenly Mindset

Our small group recently discussed the question, “What are you most tired of in this world?” Answers varied. Some said they’re tired of seeing injustices. Others said they’re tired of seeing greed and what it does to people. Some said they’re tired of the sufferings we experience. One person who empathizes a lot with others even said they’re tired of feeling weighed down by everyone else’s hurts.

How about you? What are you most tired of in this world? Think about that question for a bit. Do you have your answer?

Now take a look at God’s Word in Revelation 21:1-4: “Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away... I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God... And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’” Read that again. No more grief. No more sorrow. Now more pain.

In this world we will experience weighty afflictions of various kinds. But take heart, Jesus has overcome, and one day he will restore all things and do away with all the brokenness of this world. This week, encourage your heart by living with a heavenly mindset. Remember what and who awaits you when Jesus makes all things new.
