What do you do when life throws you a curve ball? Some of us might grab the bull by its horns and seek quick solutions on our own. Others of us might freeze in panic or worry, or succumb to bitter anger, or even drift to solitude away from the relationships we most need. As humans, we have a variety of responses to the wrenches that get thrown at us. But how would God encourage us to respond?
Fortunately, God shares some wisdom with us. He gently tells us in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."
If you’ve been dealt a bad card lately, I want to encourage you: keep trusting God. He is always good, and he knows what’s best for us even when we think we know what’s best for us. And all that he allows in our lives—including suffering or evil from the hands of others—he uses for his good, redemptive purposes in our lives (Romans 8:28; cf. Genesis 50:20). So trust him. As perplexing as your circumstance might be, trust that he has you at the center of his will as he molds you more and more into the likeness of his Son.
