Cooler weather, clearer skies, Fall is coming with its vibrant colors, fragrant aromas and outside activities that take place during this new season. Like I mentioned on Sunday, I enjoy the hot weather... right up until about the middle of July! :-)
God speaks! He speaks so that you might know Him personally and experience life change for a lifetime. He speaks most clearly through His written word, by His Holy Spirit and through other believers. Listen carefully this week for His voice as you read the Scripture, walk with His Spirit and fellowship with other believers who, too, have His Spirit within them. Remember Jesus, our Savior, who promised that He would speak to us, that we would recognize His voice and then follow Him. "Lord, help your dear saints, help all of us, to hear what you are saying today, this week and in these opportune days."
This Sunday morning we will be considering how we might "position" ourselves, so we might hear God speak most clearly. We will discover that, like most aspects of our spiritual development, it is an inside job, taking place in our inner life and then making its way out. I am asking God, by His Spirit, to bring revelation and application to our lives this Sunday morning. Remember this powerful description of God's Word from Hebrews 4:12 that declares, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).
